    IFRC DREF Operation MDRUG027 describes the allocation of money from the DREF to enable the Uganda Red Cross Society assist refugees from the Democratic Republic of Congo by:  providing food (high energy biscuits), drinking water, tarpaulins, tents, blankets, mosquito nets, jerry cans, kitchen sets, and soap; managing the communal kitchen in the Nyakabande transit centre; providing first aid and psychosocial support; providing mobile toilets and pit latrines; promoting hygiene and sanitation; and providing tree seedlings and tools to replace the trees that refugees have cut down and used for firewood.

     

    IFRC DREF Operation MDRUG028 describes the allocation of money from the DREF to enable the Uganda Red Cross Society assist people affected by a landslide that buried the villages of Namanga and Bunakasala by:  providing non-food relief items and water purification tablets; providing tracing services; assessing and monitoring the health of people in the community; providing first aid and psychosocial support; and conducting community disease surveillance and sensitization for disease prevention, hygiene and sanitation.

     

    IFRC DREF Operation MDRUG029 describes the allocation of money from the DREF to enable the Uganda Red Cross Society respond to an epidemic of Ebola haemorrhagic fever in Kibale District and surrounding districts by:  increasing public awareness about ebola, its prevention and control measures; improving early detection, reporting and referral of suspected ebola cases through community based disease surveillance mechanisms; supporting Ministry of Health facilities by providing personal protective equipment kits; providing safety kits to volunteers and staff involved in the operation; purchasing body bags; providing households whose property has been destroyed by burial teams with mattresses, blankets, mosquito nets, jerry cans, soap, tarpaulins, and kitchen utensils; and providing psychosocial support.

     

    IFRC DREF Operation MDRUG030 describes the allocation of money from the DREF to enable the Uganda Red Cross Society respond to an outbreak of Marburg haemorrhagic fever in Kabale, Kampala, Rukungiri and Ibanda districts by:  providing households whose property has been destroyed with mattresses, blankets, mosquito nets, jerry cans, soap, tarpaulins, and kitchen utensils; providing bottles of chlorine; supporting surveillance outreach activities for Marburg and referral services; initiating a health promotion campaign focussing on Marburg control measures; providing psychosocial support; and replenishing the National Society's stocks of personal protective equipment and medical supplies.

     

    IFRC DREF Operation MDRUG031 describes the allocation of money from the DREF to enable the Uganda Red Cross Society respond to outbreaks of Ebola haemorrhagic fever by:  providing households whose property has been destroyed by burial teams with mattresses, blankets, mosquito nets, jerry cans, soap, tarpaulins, and kitchen utensils; providing bottles of chlorine; supporting surveillance outreach activities for Ebola and referral services; initiating a health promotion campaign focussing on Ebola control measures; and providing psychosocial support.
