Scope and Contents:
  • IFRC Emergency Appeal MDRTR003 requests donations of cash and in-kind for the Federation to support the Turkish Red Crescent Society assist Syrian refugees displaced by the crisis in Syria.  The appeal and the relief operation evolved through several stages:

    • emergency relief provision to refugees living in camps, supporting refugees with food, basic household items and psychosocial services;
    • transition to a longer term approach to the crisis, focussed on supporting refugees and host communities in urban areas with health and psychosocial services, language and skills training for employability and livelihood support, protection assistance, and social inclusion and cohesion;
    • disruption of many activities and services due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but continuation of community engagement and accountability and social cohesion activities, production of masks and visors by refugees, host community volunteers and vocational skills trainers, dissemination of public health awareness and safe hygiene practices to prevent and mitigate transmission of COVID-19, screening of symptoms by phone and referral of potential cases to hospitals;
    • continuation of existing activities through the Turkey Country Operation Plan in 2022.
