Scope and Contents:
  • IFRC DREF Operation MDRPA008 describes the allocation of money from the DREF to enable the Red Cross Society of Panama assist people affected by floods by:  distributing hygiene kits, kitchen kits, blankets, tarpaulins, mosquito nets, and jerry cans; implementing community based health promotion and disease prevention activities; and completing health and hygiene promotion activities in coordination with local and national authorities.

     

    IFRC DREF Operation MDRPA009 describes the allocation of money from the DREF to enable the Red Cross Society of Panama assist people affected by floods by:  carrying out search and rescue activities, evacuations, and first aid; distributing food parcels, hygiene kits,jerry cans, and blankets; providing information on basic hygiene, water handling and water purification, and holding psychosocial support sessions in the communities.

     

    IFRC DREF Operation MDRPE005 describes the allocation of money from the DREF to enable the Peruvian Red Cross assist people affected by floods by:  providing safe water and sanitation, blankets, jerry cans, water filters, chlorine tablets, jerry cans, and hygiene kits; promoting health and disease prevention; installing water treatment plants and storage equipment, working with community members to remove waste and clean waterways; and conducting repairs and improvements to collective shelters.

     

    IFRC DREF Operation MDRPE006 describes the allocation of money from the DREF to enable the Peruvian Red Cross respond to an outbreak of dengue by:  distributing mosquito nets; providing information on dengue prevention and the handling of water; supporting emergency health care and treatment in hospitals; supplying hospitals with dispensary tents, stretchers, and mattresses; and supporting community cleaning, debris removal and fumigation campaigns.

     

    IFRC DREF Operation MDRPH009 describes the allocation of money from the DREF to enable the Philipine Red Cross assist people affected by an earthquake that struck on February 6, 2012, by:  distributing food, safe water, sleeping mats, blankets, jerry cans, and hygiene kits; providing the population with knowledge and practices essential for infectious disease prevention and health promotion. The National Society will also improve its health and psychosocial support services. 

     

    IFRC Emergency Appeal MDRPH010 requests donations of cash and in-kind for the Federation to support the Philippine Red Cross assist people affected by floods by:  providing food, clean water, sleeping mats, blankets, jerry cans, hygiene kits, and cash grants; mobilizing communities to declog drainages, clean debris and remove garbage; reconstructing / rehabilitating schools' water and sanitation facilities; providing preventive health services and psychosocial support; educating teachers and students on preventing waterborne, water related and other infectious diseases; and distributing early recovery cash grants to families.  The National Society will also improve its disaster response capacity.

     

    IFRC Emergency Appeal MDRPH011 requests donations of cash and in-kind for the Federation to support the Philippine Red Cross assist people affected by typhoon Bopha by:  providing food, blankets, jerry cans, hygiene kits, kitchen sets, tarpaulins, and shelter materials and tools; constructing model houses and assisting families rebuild transitional shelters and houses; conducting disease prevention and health promotion activities in schools and communities; providing psychosocial support; supporting communities to declog drainages, clean debris and remove garbage; rehabilitating / constructing water points, and schools' water and sanitation facilities; providing guidance on and monitoring the construction of latrines and septic tanks; providing cash vouchers or cash grants to enable families to restore their livelihoods .  The National Society will also enhance the health components of its typhoon emergency response and recovery programme, and improve its disaster response capacity.
