  • IFRC Emergency Appeal MDRMZ009 requests donations of cash and in-kind for the Federation to support the Red Cross Society of Mozambique assist people affected by tropical storm Dando by:  providing non-food relief items, safe water, mosquito nets, oral rehydration solution, tents, shelter materials and tool kits; conducting shelter kit training sessions; disinfecting water points; constructing temporary latrines; conducting hygiene promotion campaigns; monitoring of malaria and other public health risks; and carrying out health education and promotion campaigns focusing on the prevention of malaria, cholera and other water borne diseases.

     

    IFRC DREF Operation MDRNE011 describes the allocation of money from the DREF to enable the Red Cross Society of Niger assist people affected by floods by:  distributing food, tarpaulins, blankets, sleeping mats, kitchen sets, buckets, jerry cans, water purification tablets, mosquito nets, and oral rehydration solution; conducting disease prevention and health promotion activities; and cleaning and managing garbage sites, public latrines, schools and still water points for vector and disease prevention.

     

    IFRC DREF Operation MDRNG012 describes the allocation of money from the DREF to enable the Nigerian Red Cross Society respond to an outbreak of Lassa fever by complementing the government's efforts to prevent and control the morbidity and mortality from the Lassa fever epidemic, and by ensuring the availability of water and food storage materials.

     

    IFRC DREF Operation MDRNG013 describes the allocation of money from the DREF to enable the Nigerian Red Cross Society assist people affected by a plane crash in a densely populated area by:  providing non-food relief items; providing psychosocial support; increasing the psychosocial support capacity of National Society staff and volunteers; carrying out tracing and family reunification activities; replenishing the National Society's stock of medical supplies used in the initial response to the crash site; providing first aid services; disinfecting and fumigating the crash site; and sensitizing the community on good hygiene and health practices.

     

    IFRC Emergency Appeal MDRNG014 requests donations of cash and in-kind for the Federation to support the Nigerian Red Cross Society assist people affected by floods by:  providing sleeping mats, blankets, kitchen sets, jerry cans, buckets, soap, water treatment chemicals, mosquito nets, oral rehydration solution, shelter materials, and cash vouchers; providing technical support for shelter construction; managing and preventing malaria, diarrhoea, skin infections, respiratory infections, and sexually transmitted infections; managing cases of sexual and gender-based violence; installing water treatment units and water distribution points; constructing latrines; and preparing communities to predict, respond to and recover from floods and landslides.

     

    IFRC DREF Operation MDRNP006 describes the allocation of money from the DREF to enable the Nepal Red Cross Society assist people affected by extreme cold by providing blankets.
